Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman met in Riyadh on Tuesday to discuss the latest developments in the occupied Palestinian territories and the broader region.

They focused on the ongoing Palestinian and Arab efforts to halt “Israeli” aggression against the Palestinian people in Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem, and called for the immediate and complete withdrawal of Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) from Gaza.

Abbas warned of the grave consequences of “Israeli” actions and rhetoric concerning Islamic and Christian holy sites.

Abbas emphasized the need for close coordination between Palestine and Saudi Arabia to end the violence perpetrated by the IOF. He also underscored the pivotal role Saudi Arabia plays in this effort.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to supporting the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights per international law, which includes their right to freedom and independence.

He called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, in line with international legal resolutions.

He further emphasized that Saudi Arabia stands firmly with the Palestinian cause, supporting efforts to end the aggression and advance a political process that would conclude the Israeli Occupation and establish an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
